George Russell is a Molecular Biology graduate from the University of Glasgow. He gained his Ph.D. at Warwick University for studies on the genetics of freshwater bacteria. George worked in bacterial genetics and protein engineering until 1990 when he joined Roslin Institute to study the immunogenetics of livestock. George joined Moredun as a project leader in the viral immunomodulation programme in 2002. He has had long term interests in the structure-function relationships of proteins, especially in the context of sequence variation. He has studied the genetics of cattle immune responses for over 10 years and is interested in the interactions between host and pathogen at the molecular level.
