Improving pig and poultry production was the focus of a new event that took place near Edinburgh on 16 January 2020.

Organised by the Moredun Research Institute and Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), over 100 delagates attended the ‘Pigs and Poultry - Optimising Production’ event which highlighted new developments in vaccine development, animal welfare and nutrition to help commercial operators make use of the latest research.

Alongside researchers from Moredun and SRUC were guest speakers Andy McGowan (Chief Executive - Scottish Pig Producers), Robert Gooch (Chief Executive - British Free Range Egg Producers Association), and Máire Burnett (Technical Director - British Poultry Council).

Dr Bill Golde, Principal Investigator at the Moredun Research Institute commented:

“We were delighted to host this event with our colleagues from SRUC and looked forward to providing an update on our latest developments to representatives from the pig and poultry industry.”

Jos Houdijk, Head of the Monogastric Science Research Centre, said:

“This was a great opportunity for business and researchers to come together to share knowledge, showcase research capabilities and to grow the pig and poultry sector through evidence-based insight.”
