Catherine Nakielny

Catherine was bought up on an upland sheep farm near Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire and went on to study Animal Science in Aberystwyth University followed by completing a PhD in ‘Breeding sheep for resistance to roundworms’ in 2004. Catherine now works as an Independent Sheep Consultant working in all areas of sheep production and currents sits on National Sheep Association (NSA) Policy and technical committee. In 2011 Catherine was awarded a Nuffield Farming Scholarship looking at ways of reducing methane emissions from sheep production through increasing efficiencies of production and travelled to Ireland, New Zealand and Australia. Catherine also runs an 800 crossbred ewe flock on the family farm.
