The translation of research findings into practical application has been a strength of Moredun since its founding in 1920.  Our world class scientific research provides a range of commercialisation opportunities, and we work in partnership with a number of industrial companies to help translate science into products.

As well as the world renowned research institute, the Moredun Group also encompasses a number of commercial companies:

Moredun Scientific provides contract research and testing services to the animal health and biopharmaceutical industries. 

Pentlands Science Park Ltd is the home of the Moredun Group and provides conference facilities and a supported environment for over 20 commercial tenants involved in biotechnology and related industries.

Inocul8 is a vaccine development company focused on the commercialisation of Moredun's research in order to yield high impact livestock vaccines both in Scotland and globally.

Moredun also provides a range of services: 

 Moredun’s Proteomics Facility supports research within Moredun as well as providing specialist support for other researchers and businesses working in the complex area of proteomics. 

Moredun's Surveillance Services, in partnership with the SAC's Veterinary Services, provide a specialist service to diagnose, monitor and horizon scan for livestock diseases in Scotland.

Projects and spin-outs companies are supported by The Genomia Fund which funds commercialisation of public sector research in the bio-sciences.
